It was just a year ago that the Dallas Cowboys used the franchise tag to keep defensive end Anthony Spencer on the roster, but this offseason they were unable to fit his salary under the cap and they were forced to let him walk in free agency.
Now, Spencer is taking his time as he searches for a new home and the next stop will be in East Rutherford, New Jersey as he meets with the New York Giants.
There were original reports that Spencer was set to meet with the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, but the reports appear to have been off base and Spencer will be making the trip to visit the Giants instead.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network was first to report the news.
New York is looking for a replacement for Justin Tuck, who left to the Giants earlier this week to sign with the Oakland Raiders, and Spencer would be a quality fit opposite Jason Pierre-Paul.
