Jets 'aren't being very aggressive' in re-signing Antonio Cromartie

The New York Jets are in desperate need of secondary help, but their options are limited with the market drying up. The Jets most recently lost out on Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who signed with the New York Giants, which leaves a former Gang Green defender as the best available defensive back.

The player is veteran cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who has not been shy about his desire to return to the Jets and play for head coach Rex Ryan.

Unfortunately for Cromartie, the Jets have not been returning that interest, and Brian Costello of the New York Post reports that the Jets "aren't being very aggressive" in re-signing the veteran.

Jets general manager John Idzik has had a puzzling approach to free agency, with questionable negotiating tactics that have led to players pursuing different opportunities.

If the Jets are serious about improving their secondary then they should be willing to listen to Cromartie and meet his asking price, if it is reasonable, or else they are in danger of watching all of the capable cornerbacks evaporate from the market before they are able to sign anyone who can help.
