After eight years with the Chicago Bears, return specialist Devin Hester was looking for a new home this offseason. He found one in Atlanta, where he signed a three-year deal Thursday.
Hester holds the NFL record for most combined kick and punt returns for touchdowns (19) and most punt returns for touchdowns (13). In 2013, he averaged 27.6 yards per kickoff return, and 14.2 yards per punt return, good for third in the NFL. The Falcons could use Hester exclusively in a return role as the Bears used him last season. In prior seasons, Hester played wide receiver and, before that, cornerback.
BANKS: Five non-playoff teams that have improved the most
Hester is tied with former Falcon Deion Sanders for the most all-time non-offensive touchdowns with 19. He has been named to the AP All-Pro first team three times and the second team once.
