Cowboys still enforcing a strict set of conduct rules on Dez Bryant

After Dez Bryant had a few minor off-field incidents within the first couple years of his career, the Dallas Cowboys, Bryant and his adviser put together a strict set of guidelines in hopes of keeping their talented star wide receiver out of trouble and able to help the team on the field.

The rules began prior to the start of the 2012 season, and they still stand two years later.

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones admitted at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando that Bryant must still adhere to the set of rules that many average males his age would have a difficult time following.

Here are the guidelines for the team's star receiver, via ESPN Dallas:

• A midnight curfew. If he's going to miss curfew, team officials must know in advance.
• No alcohol.
• He can't attend strip clubs and can attend nightclubs only if they are approved by the team and he has a security team with him.
• He must attend counseling sessions twice a week.
• A rotating three-man security team will leave one man with Bryant at all times.
• Members of the security team will drive Bryant to practices, games and team functions.

It would be pretty difficult to get in trouble with so many standards to live up to, but it has paid off and Bryant has been able to keep his focus on improving on the field.

While many people may view the guidelines as overbearing, if it is keeping Bryant out of trouble and allows him to take advantage of his natural talents, perhaps a team like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should start consider doing something similar for their own troubled wideout.
