Maurice Jones-Drew signs with Oakland Raiders

Free-agent running back Maurice Jones-Drew has agreed to a three-year contract with the Oakland RaidersScott Bair of CSN Bay Area first reported Thursday night.

The former Jacksonville Jaguar underwent a physical on Friday morning before the deal became official.

According to Bair, Jones-Drew -- an Oakland, Calif., native -- met with Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie on Thursday evening and representatives then agreed to a deal.

The New York Daily News reported earlier this week that four teams were interested in Jones-Drew: the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins. ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter quoted an unnamed source saying there was a “good chance” Jones-Drew ended up in Oakland.

The Jaguars parted ways with Jones-Drew after he missed most of the 2012 season with a foot injury that required surgery and also struggled with an ankle injury in 2013. In his first six NFL seasons, he was one of the league's most productive running backs, gaining 8,071 rushing yards and 68 touchdowns.
