Safety Danieal Manning was cut by the Houston Texans on Monday

The Houston Texans have cut safety Danieal Manning after attempts to renegotiate his contract fell apart, according to ProFootballTalk's Michael David Smith.

Manning has spent the last three seasons with the Texans and was in the final year of his contract with the team. Houston hoped to negotiate a pay cut with the 31-year old, who was scheduled to take home $4.5 million in 2014, but Manning refused and is now a free agent.

BURKE: Aside from DeSean Jackson, little talent available on free agent market

The team signed safety Chris Clemons to a two-year contract last week in anticipation of Manning's release and brought on Kendrick Lewis earlier in the offseason to further its depth at the position.
