Keyshawn Johnson arrested for domestic violence

Former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN football analyst Keyshawn Johnson has been arrested for domestic violence,  according to TMZ Sports.

Johnson, a three-time NFL Pro Bowl talent, was detained on Monday morning in Calabasas, Calif., after an alleged confrontation with his girlfriend.

Law enforcement officials told TMZ that things allegedly got physical, which ended in Johnson supposedly smashing the phone of his girlfriend, cutting her hand in the process.

That confrontation lead to Johnson being arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery and booked. The former USC Trojan star posted the $20,000 bond and is out on bail.

Johnson played for four teams during his 11-year NFL career, including pit stops with the New York Jets (who originally drafted Johnson first overall in 1996), Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers.

A Super Bowl champion, Johnson amassed impressive career totals of 814 receptions, 10, 571 receiving yards and 64 touchdowns, though to many he never fulfilled the promise of his No. 1 selection.

What the arrest means for his current analyst job on ESPN's Sunday Morning Countdown is unknown. In the past, the company has let the legal proceedings progress before making a decision.
