The Cleveland Browns have previously expressed their desire to add a veteran quarterback during the offseason, and it appears that they will get an extended look at one who has not played in the NFL since 2011.

According to Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston, Vince Young will be participating in the Cleveland Browns' voluntary minicamp this week on a tryout basis.

Young has failed to make an NFL roster coming out of training camp in the past two seasons, passed over by the Buffalo Bills in 2012 and cut by the Green Bay Packers in 2013. Now he will get another shot at a career revival by competing for a spot with the Browns, who could use some depth under center with only Brian Hoyer and Alex Tanney under contract.

It is an interesting full-circle fit for Young, the third overall pick of the 2006 NFL draft, as he would be joining a team run by owner Jimmy Haslam, a Tennessee native who surely followed Young's rise to stardom with the Titans as well as the precipitous decline in performance that left Young out of a job after the 2011 season.

It may be a long shot for Young to make the Browns' roster, but it's still an opportunity to resume his playing career. He would likely compete with Tanney for the final quarterback spot on the team's roster, but the Browns are also expected to pursue a quarterback in the early rounds of the upcoming draft.
