Carlos Ortiz was one of the men allegedly with former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez on the night that Odin Lloyd was murdered last June. He was originally set to testify against Hernandez, but as things progressed, the court no longer viewed him as trustworthy enough to take the stand.
Ortiz was charged as an accessory to murder after the fact, and was being held on $500,000 bail prior to the grand jury indictment in the Lloyd case last month.
Now, Ortiz has another charge to worry about.
According to the Taunton (Mass.) Gazette, court records show that Ortiz will be arraigned on May 27 on a new murder charge. There were no details provided in the court records as to what the murder charge stems from, but it is unrelated to the Lloyd case.
Ortiz will be arraigned in Fall River Superior Court.
will be arraigned in the same court at a later date after being indicted last week on
charges of assaulting a fellow inmate
on Feb. 25.
