Adrian Peterson laughs off LeSean McCoy claim he's best running back in NFL

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson could well be on his way to becoming the league's all-time leading rusher, barring health issues, and Eagles star LeSean McCoy was instrumental in making sure that Chip Kelly's offensive overhaul exceeded expectations in 2013 en route to a playoff appearance.

But who's the better rusher right now?

While making his rounds of the ESPN studios recently to promote the Madden 15 cover vote, McCoy said he believes he's better than Peterson, which could be validated by the fact that he's the reigning NFL rushing champion after finishing up last season with 1,607 yards on the ground.

"But the last three years? I've been All-Pro first-team, twice. I never leave the field," McCoy told ESPN's First Takeon Monday. "I block. I catch. I never leave the field. I don't have anybody do my job; I do it myself. Tons of credit goes out to Adrian Peterson. I'm a big fan of his, for sure. But I feel I'm the best."

Peterson had a prompt response to McCoy's claim, and he doesn't even seem convinced that the Eagles' back believes what came out of his mouth.

“I definitely started laughing,” Peterson told Fox Sports Radio. “It was funny because when Stephen [A. Smith] asked him the question, you know, he kind of hesitated. If you watched it, you know he didn’t believe it when he said it. So I’ve got to tell the youngsters: Next time, say it with your chest, man. Say it like you mean it.”
