Kevin Williams signs with Seattle Seahawks

Defense carried the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl title last season, and now the unit has gotten better by reaching an agreement on Thursday with free-agent defensive tackle Kevin Williams on a one-year deal in which he'll make in excess of $2 million, according to ESPN.

Leading up to the signing, Williams had met with the New England Patriots, and even considered a return to Minnesota, before ultimately deciding to be a contributor on arguably the league's best defensive unit right now.

Not long after the report, Williams received a warm welcome to the organization from the team's owner, Paul Allen.

While Williams' production has declined in recent years, he has been considered one of the league's best defensive tackles for the better part of his 11-year career. His best season came with the Vikings in 2004, when he had 70 tackles and registered 11.5 sacks.

Also, Williams has been a model of consistency for most of his career, starting all but five games.
