Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball will undergo an appendectomy Monday, but he is expected to be ready for the team's regular-season opener, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.

The 23-year-old played in all 19 games for the Broncos last season, and ran for 655 yards on 148 carries. He had four touchdowns.

Running backs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson are competing for the No. 2 spot in training camp.

Titans left guard Andy Levitre underwent an appendectomy on July 24 and was removed from the team's non-football injury list just 10 days later.

Ball was drafted by the Broncos in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft out of Wisconsin.
