Raiders Matt Schaub still expected to start Week 1 despite elbow soreness
Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub missed practice Sunday with a sore throwing elbow, the Oakland Tribune's Jerry McDonald reports. Still, according to Dan Hanzus of NFL.com, the Raiders plan for Schaub to start Week 1.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports there is no structural damage in Schaub's elbow. In three preseason games, Schaub has completed 24 of 47 passes for 225 yards and zero touchdowns with one interception.
Browns want more from Brian Hoyer
Raiders coach Dennis Allen said he doesn't think the injury will be a long-term issue.
“He came in yesterday afternoon with a little soreness in his elbow,’’ Allen said. “`We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow and kind of take that day by day.’’
Rookie quarterback Derek Carr practiced with the first-team offense on Sunday. Oakland's other options at quarterback are Matt McGloin and Trent Edwards.
Schaub passed for 2,310 yards, 10 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season for the Houston Texans.
