Buffalo Bills rookie receiver Sammy Watkins practiced Monday after re-injuring his ribs in a preseason game Thursday night against the Detroit Lions, according to reports.

The team did not disclose the extent of Watkins' participation.

NFL rumors: Buffalo Bills have T.J. Graham on the trade block

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported last week that Watkins "should be good to go" for Sunday's season opener against the Chicago Bears.

Watkins left the game midway through the first quarter after absorbing a hit from Lions linebacker Ashlee Palmer. The team later announced that he would not return. Watkins first injured his ribs against the Steelers on Aug. 16 and was held out of the Bills' Aug. 23 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Watkins, 21, caught 101 passes for 1,464 yards and 12 touchdowns in his final season at Clemson. Buffalo traded the No. 9 pick as well as its first and fourth-round picks in 2015 to move up and select the him at No. 4.
