NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will no longer attend an event Wednesday night honoring Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, reports Michelle Boudin of NBC Charlotte

Goodell was scheduled to present an award at the Echo Foundation 16th Annual Award Event in Charlotte, where Richardson is one of those set to be honored.

BANKS: Goodell's credibility is shot

On Wednesday, the Associated Press reported that a law enforcement official said he sent a copy of the Ray Rice elevator video to an NFL executive in April. The AP said that the official played a 12-second voicemail left April 9 from a phone number sourced to the NFL's office that confirmed the league had received the video.

Goodell said on Tuesday that the league assumed there was video and asked for it, but it "was never granted the opportunity" to see it.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello released a statement responding to the AP's report, saying the NFL has "no knowledge of this" and would look into it.
