Falcons rookie offensive tackle Jake Matthews ruled out for Week 2

Atlanta Falcons rookie offensive tackle Jake Matthews will not play in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a left ankle injury, the Falcons announced.

Atlanta Falcons rookie offensive tackle Jake Matthews will not play in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a left ankle injury, the Falcons announced.

Matthews injured his left ankle in the first half of last Sunday's win over the New Orleans Saints. An MRI scan on the ankle came up negative.

Injuries to several superstars mar season-opening action

Matthews did not practice on Thursday but did work out on Friday without a helmet.

The Falcons selected Matthews, 22, in the first round of this year's draft.
