Sharpton, 26, recorded 55 tackles over eight starts with the Houston Texans last season.
Sharpton was with the Washington Redskins in training camp, but the team placed him on injured reserve after he suffered a high ankle sprain and cut him earlier this week.
The Bears also announced that they have terminated the contract of fullback Tony Fiammetta, who had been battling a hamstring injury.
