Report: Broncos' Montee Ball will be out for 'a while'
The Denver Broncos believe running back Montee Ball will be out for "a while" after suffering a groin injury in Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals, The Denver Post's Mike Klis reported.
Klis cited an "NFL source" as saying Ball will likely be out for "a while" with the strained groin. Ball left Sunday's win in the third quarter after being injured while blocking for quarterback Peyton Manning on a pass play. He will have a magnetic imaging exam on the groin Monday.
Ball exited Sunday's game after a rather unproductive day. He carried the ball six times and gained just seven yards. He also caught two passes for 11 yards. Ronnie Hillman and Juwan Thompson, backup running backs who received the bulk of the carries after Ball's injury, combined for 80 rushing yards after Ball's exit.
The 23-year-old Ball, a second-year player out of Wisconsin, was averaging 3.4 yards on 149 carries. He rushed for just one touchdown through the Broncos' first five games.
