Michael Vick named Jets' starting quarterback for Week 9
Michael Vick will start at quarterback for the New York Jets in Week 9, head coach Rex Ryan announced Monday.
"We've decided to go with Mike Vick this week," Ryan said. The Jets play the Chiefs in Kansas City on Sunday.
Ryan also said that Smith had a shoulder injury, but that it is not "severe." ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio reported Sunday that Smith was pulled from the Jets' loss to the Bills because of his performance, not because of the injury.

Vick replaced Geno Smith in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills after Smith threw interceptions on three consecutive offensive series. Vick completed 18 of 36 pass attempts for 153 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. He also had four fumbles, two of which were recovered by the Bills.

Vick's last start came on Oct. 27, 2013, as a member of the Eagles. He signed a one-year contract with the Jets prior to this season.
The Jets are 1-7 this season, tied with the Jaguars for the second-worst record in the league. Only the Raiders (0-7) have a worse record.
