New Orleans Saints place WR Joe Morgan on reserve/suspended list
The New Orleans Saints Monday placed wide receiver Joe Morgan on the reserve/suspended list and signed former Green Bay and Tampa Bay tight end Tom Crabtree.
The team did not offer an explanation as to why Morgan was cut. He missed 2013 with an ACL injury and had played in one game so far in 2014. Morgan has ten receptions for 379 yards in his career.
Crabtree has 22 receptions for 323 yards and five touchdowns over his four-year NFL career. He is listed as the fourth tight end on the Saints depth chart behind Jimmy Graham, Benjamin Watson and Josh Hill. Tampa Bay cut Crabtree in May following the team's drafting of University of Washington tight end Austin Sefarian-Jenkins.
Around the NFL's Conor Orr characterized Morgan's reaction as one of surprise.
Morgan offered a terse reply to the news on Twitter.
The Saints are 3-4 this year and take on the Carolina Panthers Thursday.
