Bills quarterback Kyle Orton hurts toe in loss vs. Dolphins
Buffalo Bills quarterback Kyle Orton injured his toe in Thursday night’s 22-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Orton was injured late in the contest, but after the game head coach Doug Marrone did not give any specifics about the severity of the injury. Orton went 22-of-39 for 193 yards for Buffalo, which only had 237 yards of total offense against Miami.
Buffalo (5-5) has lost two games in a row.
“Our performance isn’t good enough right now. We’ve got to go back to the drawing board a little bit and just the only thing I know is to go back and work harder and try to work harder and try to get better and it starts with the quarterback,” Orton said, according to the team’s website. “My job is to put points on the board and whatever I need to do to get the offense better that’s what I need to do."
In case Orton isn’t able to play in the Week 12 game against the New York Jets on Nov. 23, the team would likely turn back to EJ Manuel. Manuel was benched after a Week 4 loss to the Houston Texans.
Orton has passed for 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in six starts this season, going 3-3 over that stretch.
Marrone was asked if he has contemplated making a change at quarterback and going back to Manuel.
“No, right now, that hasn't crossed my mind," Marrone said, according to NFL.com.
