The Kansas City Chiefs have signed defensive end Allen Bailey to a contract extension, the team announced Saturday.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the deal is for four years and worth $25 million, including $15 million guaranteed and a $10 million signing bonus. The contract keeps Bailey with the Chiefs through the 2018 season.

“We are happy that we were able to reach an agreement to keep Allen in Kansas City,” Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said in a statement. “He has developed into a good football player and a key member of our defense.”

Bailey, 25, was originally a third-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2011 NFL draft. He's started all nine games this season, his first as a full-time starter, and has recorded 27 tackles and four sacks.

In 50 career games, Bailey has 72 tackles and six sacks.

Bailey's strong play at defensive end has helped solidify the Chiefs' defense. Kansas City is currently sixth in the NFL in total defense, allowing 320.9 yards per game, and first in pass defense, allowing 205.3 passing yards per game.

The Chiefs are 6-3 this season and in second place in the AFC West. They host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
