Avant was waived by the Panthers on Tuesday and went unclaimed. Avant was critical of Carolina's playcalling after Sunday's loss to the Falcons. Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said the decision to cut Avant was not related to his comments.

In Kansas City, Avant is reunited with Andy Reid, who coached him in seven years with the Eagles.
Avant, 31, has 21 receptions for 201 yards this season with one touchdown. The Chiefs have not had a wide receiver catch a touchdown pass yet this season.
