The Texans will sign former Browns and Bills quarterback Thad Lewis, according to multiple reports. The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter and later confirmed by John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

McClain reported earlier Monday that Houston quarterback Ryan Mallett will miss the remainder of the season with a torn pectoral muscle. Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said Monday that Mallett was "still being evaluated."

Mallett played the entirety of Sunday's loss to the Bengals. He completed 21 of 45 passes for 189 yards with an interception and no touchdowns. It was Mallett's second career start. He was acquired in a trade with the Patriots earlier this season and replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick as Houston's starting quarterback after nine games.

Lewis started five games for the Bills last season after spending the first two seasons of his career with the Browns. He has a career completion rate of 60.8 percent and an average of 185.1 passing yards per game.
