Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter was taken to a Houston hospital and is being treated for a lacerated spleen, Paul Kuharsky of ESPN reports.

According to Kuharsky, Hunter will stay in the hospital overnight. Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports that "there were no immediate plans for a surgical procedure."

Hunter sustained the injury when he was hit in the stomach by Texans safety Danieal Manning.

FARRAR: Brees' return to form among Sunday's best

From The Tennessean:

"It was a surprise to us that he was taken to the hospital," Nate Washington said. "This is a situation where football goes out the window. He has internal bleeding. … Any time a guy is spitting up blood you have to be concerned. This is bigger than football. I just hope that everything is all right. ... Justin is like a brother to me, and I want to make sure he is OK."

Hunter had one catch for 18 yards before he left Sunday's game. In 11 games this season, Hunter has 27 receptions for 480 yards.
