According to the New York Post, officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were shot and killed by Ismaaiyl Brinsley while they sat in their patrol car on a street corner in Brooklyn Saturday afternoon. Brinsley later turned his gun on himself on a nearby subway platform as police moved to take him into custody.
New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin and New York Jets center Nick Mangoldalso shared tributes on Sunday. Coughlin sported a black stripe on his left shoulder and a peace sign on his jacket during the Giants' game in St. Louis against the Rams. Mangold wore a NYPD cap on his way into MetLife Stadium and during pre-game warmups before the Jets' game against the New England Patriots.
