Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck said he considered skipping the Pro Bowl after the AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots.

Speaking to The Indianapolis Star, Luck said that while he was honored to be voted into the game, the Colts' 45-7 loss to the Patriots had him thinking about sitting out his third Pro Bowl.

"I think every loss in the playoffs leaves a really, really terrible taste in your mouth," Luck said in an interview with The Indianapolis Star. "But this one has been worse than the other two because we did get so close. And the way we lost, it was just embarrassing."

Luck finished the game 12-of-33 for 126 yards and two interceptions. The loss ended a Colts' 11-5 season without a Super Bowl berth for the third straight season.

Luck was the first pick in the Pro Bowl draft on Wednesday. The format, in its second year, has two captains pick the Pro Bowl teams out of the pool of players who are voted in. Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter selected Luck for his team, while fellow Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin is captaining the other team.

"It was hard," Luck admits. "But once you get out here and you get around the guys and some of your teammates, it feels better. But the morning after the (loss), you get a phone call and they need your decision and they want to make sure you're not hurt, can you play and all that. I'm sitting there like ... (sighs).

"I mean, it is a privilege, but I am hurting in a sense. But I realize it's an honor to be voted in and the fans really enjoy it. So, I did it."

The Pro Bowl will kick off Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
