Report: Deion Sanders' school likely to lose charter Tuesday

Deion Sanders' Dallas charter school, Prime Prep, could have its charter revoked Tuesday after a failed six-month battle to keep it, according to a Dallas Morning News report.

Deion Sanders' Dallas charter school, Prime Prep, could have its charter revoked Tuesday after a failed six-month battle to keep it, according to a Dallas Morning News report. 

The school's board was scheduled to meet Monday night but was unable to achieve a quorum and the meeting was canceled, the report said.

The Texas Education Agency is expected to revoke the charter during a hearing Tuesday in Austin. Losing the charter would not mean the school would shut its doors immediately.

After establishing Prime Prep in 2012, Sanders was accused in 2013 of assaulting a school employee. He was fired and then rehired the following day.

Sanders later pled guilty to choking an employee, and the Dallas Observer in July reported it had obtained a recording of him admitting to choking the school's chief operating officer. 

As recently as last week, the school's finances were described as "deteriorating" after it had failed to pay several operational bills. In April 2014 the school was dropped from the National School Lunch Program.
