Report: 49ers will promote QB coach Geep Chryst to offensive coordinator
The San Francisco 49ers will promote quarterbacks coach Geep Chryst to offensive coordinator, Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports.
The 49ers are seeking to replace Greg Roman, who left to become the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin had reportedly been the favorite for the job, but he removed himself from consideration on last week. Indianapolis Colts assistant Rob Chudzinksi was also a candidate, but he was promoted to assistant head coach on Tuesday.
Former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase was in the mix before he took the same position with the Chicago Bears.

Chryst has been the 49ers' quarterbacks coach since 2011 and has been an NFL coach since 1991. In 1999 and 2000 he was the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers.
New 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula has already hired Eric Mangini to be the team's defensive coordinator.
