Seattle Seahawks name Kris Richard defensive coordinator
The Seattle Seahawks have promoted defensive backs coach Kris Richard to defensive coordinator, the team announced Monday.
The team also named Micheal Barrow linebackers coach, Brennan Carroll assistant offensive line coach and Lofa Tatupu assistant linebackers coach.
The Seahawks' former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, agreed to become the new head coach of the Atlanta Hawks earlier in the month.
Richard has been on the Seahawks' staff since 2010. He also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant and defensive backs coach at USC.
On Friday, the Oakland Raidershired former Seahawks linebacker coach Ken Norton Jr. as the team's defensive coordinator.
The Seahawks' defense has led the NFL in scoring defense for the third consecutive season. This is just the third time in NFL history a team has done that, and the first time since the Minnesota Vikings did from 1969 to 1971.
The Seahawks are also the fourth team in NFL history to lead the league in fewest yards and points allowed in back-to-back seasons.
