The Oakland Raiders released defensive tackle Antonio Smith, the team announced Tuesday.

Smith, 33, started all 16 games for the Raiders last season, recording 20 tackles and three sacks. He previously spent five seasons with the Houston Texans and five with the Arizona Cardinals, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL draft.

[daily_cut.nfl]The Raiders save $3.2 million by releasing Smith, who signed a two-year, $9 million deal before last season.

Over his 11 NFL seasons, Smith has recorded 302 tackles, 44.5 sacks and 11 forced fumbles.

Earlier this off-season, the Raiders signed free-agent defensive tackle Dan Williams and re-signed defensive lineman C.J. Wilson. Oakland (3-13) finished last season 21st in total defense (357.6 yards allowed per game), 16th against the pass (238.1 passing yards allowed per game) and 22nd against the run (119.4 rushing yards allowed per game).
