Jameis Winston on being drafted No. 1: 'It's so surreal'
After being drafted No. 1 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, quarterback Jameis Winston called the moment surreal and said he's "so blessed."
Winston, the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner, is the first quarterback to be taken with the No. 1 pick since Andrew Luck in 2012. He did not attend the draft in Chicago, choosing to watch the draft with his family and grandmother, who has type-2 diabetes and can't travel.
Speaking on NFL Network, Winston said he is thankful that his family was with him and called the night "special."
"I'm just overwhelmed, it's so surreal, it feels like the championship game from 2013," said Winston. "[...] Shout out to the Tampa Bay Nation, thank you for accepting me as your quarterback right now. I look forward to getting in there with the guys, earning a spot and competing my tail off and bringing some wins."
