Jets acquire RB Zac Stacy from Rams for seventh-round pick
The New York Jets have acquired running back Zac Stacy in a trade with the St. Louis Rams, the NFL announced Saturday. The Rams received the Jets' seventh-round draft pick (No. 224) in exchange.
Stacy reportedly asked to be traded or released after the Rams selected Georgia running back Todd Gurley with the 10th pick on Thursday. Immediately after the pick was announced, Stacy tweeted "Yikes," and later deleted the message.
Stacy was a fifth-round pick in 2013 and started 12 games as a rookie. He rushed for 973 yards with seven touchdowns on 250 carries in his first season. Stacy's role in the Rams offense decreased in his second season, as he carried only 76 times, compared to 179 yards for rookie Tre Mason.
• Jets trade up 1 spot, draft Baylor QB Petty in 4th round
The Rams used the pick acquired in the trade to draft Baylor linebacker Bryce Hager.
The Jets now have five running backs on their roster: Stacy, Chris Ivory, Stevan Ridley, Daryl Richardson and Bilal Powell.
