Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey needs ankle surgery.
Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey needs ankle surgery, head coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday.
The Steelers did not reveal a timetable for Pouncey's recovery, or when the surgery will occur. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette, Pouncey has a broken bone requiring the operation.
Pouncey was carted off the field during the Steelers' Sunday preseason game after his leg was rolled on from behind. In the same game, Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson reportedly suffered a torn ACL.
Pouncey played in all 16 games for Pittsburgh last season. He missed 15 games in 2013 with a torn ACL.
