Report: Dolphins rookie RB Jay Ajayi sustained a cracked rib Thursday
Miami Dolphins rookie running back Jay Ajayi cracked his rib Thursday in the team's final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reports the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley.
Ajayi missed a significant amount of training camp with a hamstring injury, but had his best performance of the preseason against the Bucs. Before sustaining the rib injury Thursday, Ajayi carried the ball nine times for 66 yards and also caught two passes for 37 yards in the backfield.
“I thought he ran hard,” Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Thursday after the game. “He made a guy or two miss, showed toughness inside, and caught the balls that were thrown to him, which is always a good place to start.”

Ajayi was selected by Miami in the fifth round of the 2015 draft out of Boise State.
The Dolphins will make their final roster decisions by Saturday at 4 p.m., but the loss of Ajayi could complicate the decision-making process.
