Veteran receiver James Jones has agreed to a contract to return to the Green Bay Packers, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports.

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky notes that the Packers will have to make room on the 53-man roster in order to sign Jones, meaning a deal will likely not be announced until Monday.

Jones, a third-round pick of the Packers in 2007, was brought in for a meeting with team brass on Sunday.

Jones was released by the New York Giants on Saturday, after playing 2014 with the Raiders. He hauled in a career-high 73 passes for 666 yards last year.

The 31-year-old spent his first seven seasons in Green Bay, totaling 310 receptions for 4,305 yards and 37 touchdowns.

The Packers lost Jordy Nelson to an season-ending knee injury in the preseason, and currently roster five wide receivers after trimming their roster to 53 players on Saturday.
