Report: Cowboys acquire Brice Butler from Raiders after Dez Bryant injury
The Dallas Cowboys have acquired receiver Brice Butler in a trade with the Oakland Raiders, the Associated Press reports.
The Raiders will receive a conditional fifth-round 2016 draft pick in exchange for Butler.
Butler will be charged with helping fill the void left by Dez Bryant, who is recovering from a broken foot that could sideline him for at least four to six weeks. Bryant, who is a two-time Pro-Bowl selection, led the league with his 16 touchdown receptions last year with 88 total catches and 1,320 receiving yards.
Butler, who was a seventh-round pick in the 2013 draft, played in 15 games for the Raiders last season but started none. He had 21 receptions for two touchdowns and 280 yards. Butler was inactive for the Raiders’ 33–13 loss to the Bengals.
After beating the Giants in Week 1, the Cowboys will take on the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday.
