The Chargers and Bengals face off in Week 2 in Cincinnati after both teams won their opening games.

In Week 1, quarterback Philip Rivers rallied the Chargers from 18 points down to defeat the Detroit Lions 33–28 in San Diego. Rivers finished 35-of-42 with 404 yards, and set a Chargers record when he completed his final 20 passes of the game. Rivers further impacted Chargers history books by tying former Chargers great Dan Fouts at 254 for the team's all-time record in touchdowns.

Tight end Tyler Eifert led the way for the Bengals in Week 1 against the Raiders in a 33–13 victory. Eifert recorded nine catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Cincinnati's offense finished with 396 yards in the season opener.

Cincinnati looks to open 2–0 for the second straight season, while San Diego attempts to accomplish the feat for the first time since 2012.
