Colts starting tight end Dwayne Allen injured his ankle during Monday night’s game against the Jets and will not return, the team announced

Allen was injured in the second quarter and did not have a catch in the game.

Allen played on 68% of Indianpolis’s offensive plays last week, while Coby Fleener played on 48% of the snaps.

Allen, 25, caught 29 passes for 395 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games last season. He missed 15 games in 2013 due to a hip injury, after starting every game for the Colts as a rookie in 2012.

Fleener, Andrew Luck’s teammate at Stanford, was third on the team last year with 51 receptions and 774 yards.
