Week 4 of the NFL season kicks off on Thursday night with the Baltimore Ravens looking for their first win of the season. They will play the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will be without starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (MCL) for the foreseeable future. The NFL International Series also gets started on Sunday when the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins square off in the first of three league games that will be played in London this season.

• The New York Giants will work out veteran wide receivers Wes Welker and Hakeem Nicks, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports. Former Redskins tight end Chris Cooley is also scheduled to work out with the team on Tuesday, according to ESPN Radio 980.

• The Chicago Bearstraded defensive end Jared Allen to the Carolina Panthers for a conditional sixth-round pick. They also dealt linebacker Jon Bostic to the New England Patriots for a sixth-round pick.

• The Philadelphia Eagles have signed kicker Caleb Sturgis and placed Cody Parkey on season-ending injured reserve.

• Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy will likely miss Sunday's game against the Giants to rest a nagging hamstring injury.

• Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to return to the field on Sunday. He has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.

• Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson is out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a hamstring injury.

• The Cleveland Browns will keep Josh McCown as their starting quarterback and haven't thought about replacing him with backup Johnny Manziel, according to Pro Football Talk.

• Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adamsre-injured his ankle in the first quarter of Monday night's win over the Kansas City Chiefs. His status for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers is in question.
