Giants WR Victor Cruz irritates calf injury, leaves practice early
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz left practice Wednesday due to a recurrence of his calf injury, reports Art Stapleton, NFL columnist for NorthJersey.com.
Cruz participated in the team’s individual drills on a limited basis, but was forced to cut his practice short after his left calf began to bother him.
Cruz hadn’t practiced since Aug 17. after injuring his calf during training camp.
The wideout was confident that he would be ready to play on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, but he may not be ready to return just yet. Cruz has not played in a regular season game since Oct. 12 of last season after tearing his patellar tendon.
Teammate Rueben Randlesaid he doesn’t think Cruz is “too far away [from returning],” adding “but I don't think he’s quite there yet.”
The Giants are 1–2 after beating the Redskins last Thursday.
