Reports: MRI shows Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has torn ACL
An MRI confirmed Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has a torn ACL, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the diagnosis.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters after Sunday’s game that the team feared Charles had torn his ACL.
Charles went down with a non-contact right knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Bears. He ends the season with 71 carries for 364 yards and four touchdowns.
Charles retweeted a message of support from Saints running back C.J. Spiller on Monday.
Charles tore the ACL in his left knee in 2011 but had missed just two games over the past three seasons and was a Pro Bowl selection each year.
Knile Davis is listed as the Chiefs’ backup running back, with rookie free agent Charcandrick West behind him.
