Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith out for year with torn Achilles
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith left Sunday’s game with a leg injury.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. is out for the season with a torn Achilles, coach John Harbaugh announced.
Smith sustained the injury late in the third quarter of the Ravens’ win over the Chargers. Immediately after being tackled during a third-down reception, Smith pointed to his right Achilles and called for the training staff.
Smith was carried off the field by two trainers, and did not put any weight on his right leg.
The wide receiver entered Sunday with 41 catches for 588 yards and three touchdowns. Smith, who has announced he will retire after this season, had been the subject of trade inquiries.
