Reports: Texans claim quarterback Brandon Weeden on waivers

The Houston Texans have claimed quarterback Brandon Weeden off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. ESPN’s Field Yates confirmed the report.
Weeden was released earlier this week so Dallas could activate Tony Romo from injured reserve and keep Matt Cassel as the backup.
Texans starter Brian Hoyer left Monday night’s game with a concussion and is questionable to play Sunday against the Jets. T.J. Yates will start if Hoyer does not pass the NFL’s concussion protocol. Yates is the only other quarterback on Houston’s active roster, with Zac Dysert on the practice squad.
Weeden started three games for the Cowboys this season after Romo was injured but was eventually benched in favor of Cassel.
