Ex-Cowboys RB Joseph Randle arrested for assaulting officer
Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was arrested on Tuesday night after assaulting an officer at the Kansas Star Casino, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday.
Gaming commission spokesman Fred Walker said Randle became “belligerent” when he was asked to leave the casino for being too intoxicated. Two officers attempted to escort him off of the property, at which point a verbal confrontation turned physical.
Randle was then taken to Sumner County jail. He is being held on charges of assaulting a police officer, criminal threat, battery, disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing and interference with a law enforcement officer. Randle’s bail was set at $25,000.
The Cowboys released the 23-year-old running back earlier this month. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he was concerned about Randle’s well-being before the team released him.
Last year, Randle was arrested for stealing underwear and cologne from a department store. In February, Randle was also arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at his girlfriend. The charges against him were dropped, but the NFL suspended him for four games.
Randle was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Cowboys. He ran for 315 yards and four touchdowns over six games before he was released.
