NBC will cut away from Sunday Night Football for Obama address
NBC says it will cut away from Sunday Night Football for President Barack Obama’s address to the nation and rejoin the game once it is done.
The speech is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET, while the game should kickoff at its normal 8:25 p.m. ET start time.
President Obama is addressing the country Sunday night in the wake of the San Bernandino shooting last week. The primetime speech will be carried by all the major network channels.
"The president understands the country is very concerned about this issue, and I think what you'll hear from him is a discussion about what the government is doing to ensure our highest priority," Attorney General Loretta Lynch told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Sunday Night Football will feature the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.
