Report: Panthers’ Josh Norman fined for altercations with Odell Beckham
The NFL has fined Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman $26,044 for his actions during the Panthers’ victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, reportsUSA Today’s Jarrett Bell.
Norman and Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. were involved in a number of physical altercations during Sunday’s game, leading to Beckham earning three personal fouls and Norman being flagged twice for unnecessary roughness. The most egregious offense came in the third quarter when Beckham smashed his helmet into Norman’s, and Norman responded by kneeing Beckham in the head after he had fallen to the ground.
The NFL announced Monday it would suspend Beckham for one game for his actions against the Panthers, citing “multiple violations of safety-related playing rules.” Beckham’s appeal of the suspension will be heard Wednesday.
Bell reports Norman was fined $8,681 for a face mask and $17,363 for striking Beckham in the head area. Norman will appeal both of the fines.
