NFL L.A. committee recommends Raiders and Chargers joint bid

The NFL Los Angeles committee has recommended the joint bid between the Raiders and Chargers.

The six-owner NFL Los Angeles committee has recommended to the rest of the league the joint bid between the Chargers and Raiders to build a stadium in and relocate to Carson, Calif., according to multiplereports.

San Diego and Oakland presented Tuesday a plan for a $1.7 billion stadium in Carson. Any team which hopes to relocate ultimately needs approval from 24 of the league’s 32 owners.

The committee voted 5–1 in favor of Carson, reports Jason Cole of Bleacher Report. Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was the lone dissent, saying only one team or none at all should relocate.

The Rams had submitted a proposal to move to Inglewood, but the owners will not vote on that plan, reports Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News.

Despite the Chargers’ and Raiders’ expressed interest in working together, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has submitted a resolution that would pair the Rams and the Chargers together in a shared stadium. A Rams-Chargers partnership is considered the most likely proposal to be approved by the owners, reportsMike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The Chargers have said they have “zero interest” in the Ingelwood site, while Rams owner Stan Kroenke has been lobbying for that location.

After the three teams applied for relocation, St. Louis and San Diego submitted proposals to entice their teams to remain in their current home cities. Oakland did not submit a proposal. Over the weekend, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued a statement saying that St. Louis, Oakland and San Diego had “ample opportunity but did not develop their proposals sufficiently to ensure the retention of its NFL team.”
