Report: Saints hire ex-Dolphins coach Dan Campbell as assistant
The New Orleans Saints have hired ex-Miami Dolphins interim head coach Dan Campbell as an assistant, reports ESPN’s Mike Triplett.
Campbell, who was promoted from tight ends coach to interim head coach when the Dolphins fired Joe Philbin after an early-season three-game losing streak, will serve as the assistant head coach and tight ends coach with the Saints.
Miami won its first two games under Campbell, scoring a total of 82 points. The Dolphins beat the New England Patriots in their season finale to finish the year at 6–10 and 5–7 under Campbell.
According to Triplett’s report, the Saints will retain current tight ends coach Dan Roushar on staff for 2016. New Orleans is also reportedly adding Joe Lombardi and Aaron Glenn as coaches next season.
