The Miami Dolphins have hired Clyde Christensen as their offensive coordinator, the team announced Wednesday.

Christensen will be joining the staff of first-time head coach Adam Gase. Christensen has coached with the Indianapolis Colts since 2002, serving as offensive coordinator from 2009–11 and quarterbacks coach from 2012 through last season.

Christensen will be tasked with improving the play of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, whose passer rating dropped last season after a promising 2014. Miami averaged 19.4 points per game in 2015, the sixth-worst mark in the NFL.

Christensen has also served a position coach in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will join Vance Joseph, who was hired as defensive coordinator earlier this week, on the revamped Dolphins coaching staff.
